What is a good WhatsApp alternative for a group chat?

Prom is a group chat where your group makes its own games and rituals, called Charms, by asking an AI named Delphi. The whole group stays in one chat, and each thing you do together is its own Charm.

Is Prom a WhatsApp alternative?

For a group that does things together, yes. WhatsApp is made for private messaging and calling. In Prom, the chat is where your group’s Charms live: the sign-up, the leaderboard, the weekly vote.

What is the difference between Prom and Wabi?

Both put an AI in a group chat that makes things for the group. Wabi is an AI assistant you use together, and it makes plans, trackers, maps, lists and games right in the chat. Prom is made for groups with their own lore and rituals: each activity lives in its own Charm, made by asking Delphi.

How big can a Circle be?

A Circle is at its best around 20 members, but communities of hundreds have run on Prom.

Yes. Prom is free on iOS and Android, and it runs on the web.

Which one fits your group

Prom, if your group does things together and wants one chat with a Charm for each of them.
Telegram, if your group is very large: groups go up to 200,000 members and can be split into topics.
Wabi, if you want an AI assistant in your group chat that makes plans, trackers and games.
Discord, if your group plays games and hangs out, and wants a channel for each topic.
Stay on WhatsApp, if what you need is private messaging and calling, or a Community that brings related groups under one umbrella.

Why pick Prom over WhatsApp

When a WhatsApp group grows into more than a conversation, WhatsApp’s answer is a Community: related groups under one umbrella, and an announcement group to reach everyone at once. A Circle stays one conversation, and the things the group does together become Charms.

A Circle is at its best around 20 members, close enough that everyone knows everyone, but communities of hundreds have run on Prom too.

Second Tuesday BooksAn example Circle

Nine friends, one book a month, and a meeting that kept slipping. They asked Delphi for a Charm that runs the vote for next month’s book, marks who actually finished, and keeps a shelf of every book they have read together. The shelf is up to forty-one. Nobody has finished all of them.
